Potential new majority owner will take over the sporting sector in the club
Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have thought back in November 2022 that he will be able to purchase his boyhood club from the Glazer family, but at one point he realized what Qatar sheikh didn‘t – that they didn‘t really wanted to sell the club. So he is about to enter Manchester United anyway, but as a minority owner, if the United board votes for his 25%, 1.4 billion pounds bid on Thursday. But even thou he won‘t purchase the club, he at least put one leg in and will be at the driving seat for any future stake purchases. On top of that, he will be in charge of the most troublesome part of the club – recruitment. And he wants to make changes.
🚨 Sir Jim Ratcliffe questioned Manchester United's transfer policy when he visited Old Trafford in March, with the deal that brought veteran midfielder Casemiro to the club being highlighted as what he sees as questionable recruitment.

According to Guardian, English billionaire gave Casemiro as an example of not so good recruitment policy, or lack of it. The Brazilian midfielder was brougth in from Real Madrid last season for 60 million pounds on a four year deal and looked great in his first season, but didn‘t shine so far in his second year. It‘s a bit strange if Ratcliffe really saw Casemiro as the ideal example, considering how many real flops United had during the last few years. The Red Devils are now accepting Rafcliffe‘s 1.4 billion pounds proposal, and they have spent 1.67 billion pounds on new players in the last decade, and they have little to show for it. Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, Antony, and Donny van de Beek have been high profile signings during the recent few years, but were either flops or their behavior caused problems for the club, or the team.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe is apparently determined to stop this and shake the recruitment department and for that, he will have full support from coach Erik ten Hag. The Dutch tactician is also unhappy with the solutions from his sporting department, even thou they are the ones who fully backed him during the last two transfer windows. Ten Hag was told he would have 60 million pounds to use in the last transfer window by the Glazer family, but ended up spending 180 million on six new players. Ratcliffe will appoint a sporting director as soon as he takes over, and so far, he is support Ten Hag, but when the injured players come back to the team, he will be expecting wins, or another coach might sit in the dugout at Old Trafford.
