Should Kenya secure aggregate victory in the tie, they will face either neighbours Tanzania or Angola in the third round
The Kenyan women’s national U20 team, Rising Starlets, take on Ethiopia in a 2026 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers clash set for today, Sunday 21 September.
The second-round match will be staged at the Abebe Bikila Stadium from 1500 hrs, where both teams will be looking to secure an important victory and advantage in the first leg.
Kenya have named a strong squad heading into the match, and coach Jackline Juma will be hoping her side secures an away victory ahead of their second-leg match set for Sunday 28 September at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata, Nairobi.
The Kenyan team will be captained by Simba Queens attacker Fasila ‘Kamama’ Adhiambo, who is expected to lead the charge on the pitch and move closer to the overall goal of securing a maiden place in the Women’s U20 World Cup.
Should Kenya secure aggregate victory in the tie, they will face either neighbours Tanzania or Angola in the third round of the African qualifiers set for February 2026 as they eye the continental tourney.
Juma will be banking on the experience of the 10 players who represented the country in the FUFA U17 Women’s World Cup in the Dominican Republic to guide the team to victory.
Speaking ahead of the match, coach Juma expressed confidence in the team’s preparedness for the duel.
“Preparations have been good, and the players are psyched up and ready both physically, technically, and tactically,” Juma told FKF Media.
Juma’s words were echoed by midfielder Jerine Adhiambo, who re-emphasized the importance of positive results in the first leg as well as her personal ambitions.
“We have trained well enough. Everyone is ready and looking forward to winning the match and making work easier at home.
Should the coach give me a chance to play, I am ready to deliver. I want to be on the scoresheet,” said Adhiambo.
