Posta came into the match on the back of a 2-1 win over Mathare United in their opening match of the campaign, while Tusker suffered a 2-0 defeat to KCB FC in their season opener.
The match started on a high note, and Posta, buoyed by a win in their last match, scored inside the first three minutes when Eliud Lokuwam’s deflected shot dipped past Brian Opondo in the Tusker goal.
Tusker responded with half-chances through corners and fouls, but Posta’s defense, marshalled by former Gor Mahia defender Benard Ondiek, was able to prevent any harm.
As the game progressed, both teams were trying to assert their dominance, but it was Posta who looked livelier.
The Mailmen’s dominance was underpinned again in the 24th minute when a wide combination play down the left channel between Brian Otieno and Caleb Olilo saw the latter lay a cut back that found Lokuwam free in the Tusker box as he passed the ball into the net, doubling Posta’s lead.
Tusker, with a mountain to climb, pulled one back in the 36th minute through a long ball in the channel for Kapaito, who looped it past the onrushing Peter Odhiambo.
The Brewers got half-chances as they were pushing for an equaliser, but Posta led 2-1 by the time the half-time whistle blew.
After the break, Tusker responded by introducing Thomas Omole and Dennis Oalo, taking off Yakeen Mutheli and Vincent Owino.
Three minutes later, Posta replaced their match winner in the opening game of the season, Trevor Omondi, with Brian Ochieng.
In the 52nd minute, Kapaito was put through on goal from a long ball and beat his marker, but Ondiek cleared the ball over the bar.
Eliud Lokuwam thought he had grabbed his hat trick, but his 67th-minute shot from an Olilo cross hit the post.
In the end, Posta were able to secure their second win and go top of the FKF Premier League table as Tusker were condemned to a second successive defeat.
