Last season, the team finished in tenth place under the stewardship of the Dutch-trained gaffer who has also served as the club’s head coach between 2012-2014.

Barely two months after his confirmation as Sofapaka Football Club Sporting Director, David Ouma has resigned from the position.

Ouma, who until his appointment as director was the club's head coach, has cited personal issues for his decision to leave the former league champions.

"Since my appointment, I haven't been able to effectively execute my services due to family-related issues. This has made it difficult on my end and formed a basis for my stepping down."

The former Harambee Starlets, Mathare United, and Posta Rangers tactician resigned from his position on 20 September, a move that was made public today, and has since decided to take a sabbatical leave from the touchline for a while as he focuses on other activities.

"Having been consistent throughout the years in my coaching career, stepping down from the sporting director position gives me a chance to take some time off the touchline to reflect and focus on other personal-related activities." Concluded Ouma.

The side appointed Rwandese tactician Francis Haringingo as head coach soon after elevating Ouma to the rank of director.

Haringingo was hired alongside compatriot Pablo Nduwimana as his assistant who filled in the gap left by Paul Ogai.

On Monday, the former league winners strengthened their technical bench by incorporating Ezekiel Akwana who will serve as the second assistant coach.

Ouma returned to Sofapaka in April 2021 wearing the hat of a sporting director-cum assistant coach barely days after he was relived of his duties as the Harambee Starlets coach.

He was elevated to the rank of head coach last year following the departure of Kennedy Odhiambo.

Ouma had served Sofapaka for five years in different capacities before taking up the Starlets job.
