At Wundanyi Stadium, MOFA showed no mercy, dismantling hosts Mwatate United 4-0 in a ruthless display

The National Super League served up a gripping end to the 2025 calendar year on Sunday, December 21, as Round 15 fixtures delivered mixed fortunes across the promotion chase and the deepening relegation battle.

At Thika Stadium, Kabati Youth’s recent resurgence came to a grinding halt after a disciplined 3K FC side secured a crucial 2-0 victory.

The debutants, buoyed by a midweek 2-1 win over Soy United and seeking to stretch their unbeaten run to four matches, found 3K FC an immovable obstacle.

First-half strikes from Amir Ndune and Owen Mwangi proved decisive, steering the Mozzart Bet-backed outfit to maximum points.

The result propelled Francis Chege’s men back into joint second place on 27 points, level with Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) and cutting the gap to leaders Migori Youth to just two points.

For Kabati Youth, the defeat stalled their upward momentum as they remained entangled in the relegation mix, albeit still seven points clear of bottom-placed Mwatate United.

At Wundanyi Stadium, MOFA showed no mercy, dismantling hosts Mwatate United 4-0 in a ruthless display.

A clinical hat-trick from Steve Otieno, the second of the campaign following Syphas Otieno’s treble against Mombasa United a fortnight earlier, combined with a strike from Rodgers Onyango sealed a resounding win.

The Homa Bay-based side bounced back emphatically from last week’s 1-1 draw with Kisumu All Stars, drawing level with 3K FC on 27 points and keeping the promotion race firmly alive.

Mwatate’s woes deepened further as they remained rooted at the foot of the table on just seven points.

Meanwhile at Mumboha Grounds, Luanda Villa continued their steady rise with an impressive 3-1 victory over Kisumu All Stars.

A brace from Derrick Otieno and a goal by Roland Ashimoto cancelled out Wycliffe Opuro’s consolation strike, as Luanda bounced back from a midweek goalless draw against Nzoia Sugar.

The win marked their sixth of the season, extended their unbeaten run to six matches, and lifted them into the top half, finishing the year ninth on 21 points.

For Kisumu All Stars, the loss was a setback, marking coach Duncan Otieno’s first defeat since taking charge two weeks ago and halting their two-match unbeaten run.

They remain embroiled in the relegation dogfight, sitting 18th on 13 points.

At the Mashuru Complex in Kajiado, debutants Equity FC edged Vihiga United 2-1 in a tightly contested affair.

The victory marked back-to-back wins for James "Kamara" Mbezwa’s charges, lifting them to sixth on 24 points and firmly back into the promotion conversation, now just five points adrift of Migori Youth.

Vihiga United’s struggles worsened following their midweek walkover loss against Nairobi City Stars, leaving them second from bottom on 12 points and staring nervously at the prospect of relegation.

In Kirinyaga, Fortune Sacco squandered a golden opportunity to break into the top three after being held to a goalless draw by Kibera Black Stars.

The stalemate halted both sides’ three-match winning streaks, leaving Fortune fifth on 25 points, two ahead of seventh-placed Kibera.

At Gems Cambridge, Nairobi City Stars were denied victory late on as Soy United snatched a dramatic equaliser four minutes from time.

Edison Katana had put the hosts ahead before Alfred Ratolo struck to force a 1-1 draw.

The result saw Salim Babu’s side cross the 20-point mark to sit eighth on 22, while Soy United remained 15th on 16 points.

Elsewhere at Ndalani Complex, Darajani Gogo ended a three-match winless run with a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts MFC, who were left to rue a catalogue of missed chances.

The victory lifted Andrew Ongwae’s side to 10th on 20 points, while MFC slipped to 16th, level on 16 points, closing out a demanding year with renewed relegation concerns.
