Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) and Soy United emerged as the biggest beneficiaries of the day, registering crucial victories over Nzoia Sugar and Mwatate United, respectively, to significantly strengthen their promotion ambitions.
Nzoia Sugar 0-2 MOFA
At Sudi Stadium, MOFA produced a composed and disciplined performance to secure a 2-0 victory over Nzoia Sugar, underlining their intent to fight for a place in the FKF Premier League next season.
Leading from the front, club captain Collins Bate delivered a commanding, leadership-driven display, netting a brace that proved decisive in guiding the visitors to a comfortable win.
His influence on both ends of the pitch epitomised MOFA’s determination to return to winning ways.
The victory marked a timely response for the Charles Bruno-coached side, after their 1-1 draw against Nairobi City Stars last time out, while lifting them to 48 points, just four behind third-placed Migori Youth.
With momentum now regained, MOFA have firmly reinstated themselves into the promotion conversation, positioning themselves as serious contenders for a top-flight slot.
For Nzoia Sugar, the defeat compounded a difficult run, as the former FKF Premier League side slumped to yet another consecutive loss.
The result leaves them languishing 16 points adrift of the automatic promotion places, a gap that now presents a daunting challenge as the season edges toward its decisive phase.
Mwatate United 0-2 Soy United
Meanwhile, at Wundanyi Stadium, Soy United continued their resurgence with an impressive 2-0 victory over Mwatate United, showcasing efficiency and attacking sharpness on the road.
In-form striker Alfred Ratolo once again proved pivotal, finding the back of the net to take his season tally to 10 goals, while Wattsak Mustami added the second to seal a convincing win for the visitors.
The triumph marked back-to-back victories for the Jeffers Odongo-led side, propelling them to 39 points and reigniting hopes of a late push for promotion.
With confidence building, Soy United appear poised to mount a strong finish to the campaign.
The defeat, however, represented a significant setback for Mwatate United in their push for survival.
Fresh from a morale-boosting win over Migori Youth in their previous outing, they had hoped to build momentum in their bid for survival.
Instead, the loss leaves Evans Mafuta’s charges rooted third from bottom in the 20-team standings, deepening their relegation concerns.
With time running out, the pressure continues to mount as they fight to avoid the drop to the lower tier.
As the league enters a crucial stretch, Saturday’s results not only reshaped the promotion race but also intensified the battle for survival, setting the stage for a gripping conclusion to the National Super League season.
