The Nairobi Governor confirmed on Thursday night during the club's end-of-season awards gala that the pledge he made earlier in the season would now be honoured, with houses already earmarked for the players within Nairobi County.
Addressing the squad, Sakaja revealed that units had been secured in the ongoing affordable housing projects in Pangani and Woodley.
“As I promised you, you all now own a house in Nairobi. All of you have received houses. We have those in Woodley and Pangani because I promised you I would give you. Do not let me down next season,” he offered.
According to the county boss, some players will be allocated houses in the Pangani Affordable Housing Project, while others will receive units in Woodley.
The promise was first made earlier in the campaign after Nairobi scripted one of the most remarkable stories in Kenyan football by winning the Mozzart Bet Cup and securing qualification for the CAF Confederation Cup.
The club would go on to enjoy a dream run on the continent, reaching the group stage at the first time of asking and cementing their status as one of the country's fastest-rising football projects.
In a further show of appreciation, Sakaja disclosed that even players who have since left the club but were part of the squad when the promise was made would still benefit from the housing programme.
The gesture is the latest in a series of initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of Nairobi United players and helping them build stable futures away from the football pitch.
Last year, President William Ruto pledged a new team bus and a KSh10 million investment package targeted at helping the players venture into business.
The fund was designed to support player-led enterprises in sectors such as clothing, engineering, agriculture, art and media, with groups of players expected to receive funding to kick-start their projects.
The former AFC Leopards patron reiterated his commitment to supporting the team and its players, insisting that his investment in the club goes beyond results on the pitch.
“Whatever you need, anything, let me know. I am available. Despite everything, I will always be there for you,” he told the players.
