The Kenyan women's senior national football team squad heading to the continental tourney has come under heavy criticism from a section of fans and media following the exclusion of some experienced players, including midfielder Corazone Aquino and striker Jentrix Shikangwa.
There are a couple of young players who made it to the final squad, including Marion Serenge, Eglay Mukwana, Lorna Nyarinda and Valarie Nekesa.
Speaking to the media, Adam, who is one of the most experienced members of the squad, defended the blend in the team, highlighting the quality of each player.
“There are no junior players here. As long as one earns a call-up to the national team, they are not junior; they have to level up and play as per the coach’s instructions and expectations,” said Adam.
Adam, who plies her trade in the Danish league with HB Koge, also viewed the postponement of the tournament, which was initially set for March and April, to July as a blessing in disguise for the Kenyan team.
“God had a reason for the postponement of the tournament. Right now, the players are ready, and as a team, we are looking forward to going out there and competing,” she added.

Further, the 28-year-old weighed in on her versatility, which has led to deployment in different positions by coach Beldine Odemba.
“I am glad that I can play in different positions. As to where I would like to play, that is anywhere the coach asks me to play.”
In the end, the former Kansas City Current midfielder exuded confidence in Harambee Starlets' ability to put on a stellar show at the continental tourney.
“I am ready for the tournament, and so is the team. We are all ready to go and represent the country and make a name for ourselves.”
