Sharks will next host Posta Rangers on Sunday at the Police Sacco Grounds, aiming to build on their recent momentum.

Kariobangi Sharks FC coach William Muluya has urged his side to remain focused, stressing that their fight for top-flight survival is far from over.

The tactician wants his team to keep collecting points as they work towards safety in the remaining games of the season.

Sharks secured a morale-boosting 2-1 win over Shabana FC on Sunday at the Gusii Stadium, coming from a goal down to claim all three points.

The victory opened up a five-point gap from the relegation zone, offering hope to a team that has spent much of the season at the foot of the table.

Despite the positive result, Muluya, who also doubles as the Kenya U17 coach, remains cautious.

“We still have a long way to go. We need to collect every possible point. With about 10 games remaining, we are aware that our position is not yet secure,” he said.

The Sharks coach was, however, encouraged by how his team responded after going behind shortly after the restart when Brian Michira put Shabana ahead.

Substitutes Razel Omondi and Markvivan Kesa turned the game around, scoring in quick succession to snatch maximum points.

“After conceding in the fifth minute of the second half, the players’ confidence was very encouraging, even for us on the bench. We had struggled against Tusker, but against Shabana, we minimized our mistakes,” Muluya noted.

He also praised the match winners.

Kesa, who started the season as the team’s first-choice striker but has spent much of the season on the bench, netted his third goal of the campaign to secure the win.

Omondi, a Kenya U17 international, scored his first goal of the season, marking a personal milestone.

“Coming off the bench and scoring is always encouraging. It was Kesa’s third goal of the season. Omondi needs confidence; it’s his first goal in the top-tier league, and we expect a lot from him moving forward,” Muluya added.
