Kenya Sevens co-captain Samuel Asati is reaping the rewards after years of dedication on the rugby pitch, having purchased a clean Honda Fit Hybrid worth approximately Ksh1.5 million last week.

In an exclusive interview with Mozzart Sport, the KCB Rugby scrum half described the purchase as a symbol of personal growth and progress in his life.
“I have cars, and this is my second one. I feel great because it shows growth and progress in my life. I believe more blessings are still coming my way,” Asati offered.
The playmaker added that the milestone was not unexpected, as it is something he has been working towards for a long time, with the purchase coinciding with his birthday week.
“I always thank God because this is something that has been a long time coming, so it did not really come as a surprise,” he said.
Despite owning the new ride, Asati prefers to take the wheel himself whenever he is on the road.
“I also prefer driving myself,” he added.
When cruising around town, the Shujaa co-captain keeps his playlist simple and energetic, drawing inspiration from amapiano and international hip-hop.
“When I’m on the road, my playlist is usually amapiano, or artists like Black Sherif and Meek Mill,” he said.

Beyond enjoying the fruits of his labour, Asati also had a message for younger players aspiring to follow a similar path in rugby.
“To the younger players, I would say: stay focused, know your lane, and understand what you want in life. Every day, keep taking steps towards your progress.
If you stay on your path and remain clear about your goals, things will eventually fall into place. And most importantly, keep praying,” he advised.
Away from life off the pitch, Asati and his Shujaa teammates are now focused on the remaining legs of the HSBC SVNS Series Division Two circuit.
Kenya made a promising start to the season in Nairobi, finishing third in the opening leg held at Nyayo National Stadium in February, where Shujaa recorded four wins from five matches.
The series now heads to Montevideo, Uruguay, for the second leg on Saturday, 21 and Sunday, 22 March, before concluding in São Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, 28 and Sunday, 29 March.
Asati believes the team is ready for the challenge ahead.
“We feel good, having done the first assignments, and now having the remaining two assignments back-to-back. It is another chance to represent the country. I feel great, and I believe the boys are up to the task.
Our main goal is to make it to the top four. That will be the first step towards our journey back to the series,” he said.
He also expressed confidence that the back-to-back tournaments will not pose a challenge for the squad.
“We have been doing back-to-back tournaments, so I don’t think having the tournaments back-to-back is something to worry about.
We have done the training sessions very well, and having our camp also helped us in building up to this,” he concluded.
