Mozzart Bet Cup: Police face giant-killers BB Bread as Tusker take on Sharks

BB Bread have been on fine run in the Cup, eliminating both AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia

The prestigious Mozzart Bet Cup returns this weekend with Round 16 matches lined up beginning with a double-header on Friday, 10 April at the Moi International Sports Center , Kasarani

Giant-killers BB Bread will face off with Police FC, while Tusker FC face Kariobangi Sharks to complete the two tantalizing matches of the day.

Tusker vs Kariobangi Sharks

The first match of the day will see Kenyan giants Tusker FC play host to Kariobangi Sharks from 1300 hrs.

Tusker qualified to the Round of 16 following a convincing 2-0 victory over Bidco United, while Sharks secured a 4-0 victory over KU Hardnuts.

Tusker, who are 10th on the FKF Premier League table with 37 points, 20 off league leaders Gor Mahia admitted to the impossibility of winning the league title, terming the Mozzart Bet Cup as their only realistic chance of a silverware.

The Brewers will be facing a Sharks side that is equally having a poor season in the league and is currently just a point above the relegation zone.

In the Cup, Sharks will be seeking to replicate their 2018 firm thst saw them clinch the title and book a place in continental football.

Kenya Police vs BB Bread

The second match of the day will be the highly-anticipated clash between Police FC and BB Bread that will kick off at 1530 hrs.

BB Bread have made a name for themselves in this edition as giant-killers, having eliminated Kenya’s two biggest clubs AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia on their way to the Round of 16.

They will be coming with psyche, hoping to replicate the same fate against FKFPL defending champions Police FC in this round.

The Law Enforcers on the other hand will be seeking to regain the Cup title with the league seemingly getting out of their reach.

Coach Nicholas Muyoti said that the team’s main focus fir the remainder of the season is clinching the Mozzart Bet Cup.

“Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards have seemingy created an unsailable gap at the top and therefore our target in the league is to finish in the highest position possible but highly unlikely to win the league.

Having played continental football for the oast two seasons, we cannot afford to miss it next season and our only realistic route is the Mozzart Bet Cup,” said Muyoti.
