Kizza, who joined the Mozzart Bet Cup defending champions in the mid-season transfer window from Ugandan side NEC FC, has shared a special bond with Wanyama.

The friendship dates back to their time together, turning out for Canadian club CF Montreal, where Kizza was welcomed by Wanyama when the Ugandan joined in July 2020 before leaving in December 2021.

With Ugandan media reporting the possibility of the Wanyama brothers joining Kizza for a Charity match, the 26-year-old opened up on the details of the event.

“We have been having discussions with my big brothers, Wanyama and Mariga, who have been positive about the Charity match. I am trying to go and give back to my people, and it will be a great opportunity for them and me to see faces that we have only been watching on TV,” said Kizza.

The former KCCA defender relishes the chance of having two of the most decorated footballers in the region for his event.

“They are role models to us. Playing with and against a UEFA Champions League (UCL) winner and an English Premier League (EPL) player means a lot, and I believe it is going to be a good initiative,” he added.

Mariga won the 2010 Champions League title with Italian side Inter Milan, while Wanyama played in the EPL for eight years, representing Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, reaching the Champions League final in 2019.

Kizza, who was speaking after Naibois’ match against Kakamega Homeboyz, also touched on his current form, having come on in the second half to grab an equaliser from a well-taken free kick to ensure the match ended in a 2-2 draw, days after scoring a worldie against Shabana FC.

“I feel happy. I am trying to help the team because they signed me knowing what I can do, and so I am glad that I can get to help, and I believe we can still do better.

I personally have the quality, and the coaches have also been trying to help me improve so that I can help the team more,” he noted.
