The 31-year-old custodian achieved the milestone after starting in France's hard-fought 1-0 win over Paraguay in the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, moving into fourth place among the country's most-capped goalkeepers.

Maignan, who made his senior international debut in October 2020, has firmly established himself as France's first-choice goalkeeper following the international retirement of long-serving captain Hugo Lloris after the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Renowned for his commanding presence, exceptional shot-stopping ability and composure in possession, the Paris Saint-Germain academy graduate has become a key figure in Didier Deschamps' side, playing a crucial role despite France's elimination from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

His Round of 16 appearance saw him move ahead of Lama, who earned 44 caps for France between 1993 and 2000.

Lama made his France debut in February 1993 in a 4-0 victory over Israel before establishing himself as the country's first-choice goalkeeper throughout the 1990s.

He was part of the France squad that won the 1998 FIFA World Cup on home soil and UEFA Euro 2000, cementing his place among the nation's greatest goalkeepers.

The former Lille goalkeeper later ventured into coaching and was appointed Harambee Stars head coach in June 2006, becoming one of the highest-profile tacticians to take charge of Kenya's national team.

His stint, however, lasted just over two months, during which he took charge of two matches.

Kenya suffered a 2-1 defeat to Eritrea in a 2008 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier before playing out to a goalless draw against Tanzania in an international friendly.

Lama eventually left the role after citing administrative challenges within the then Kenya Football Federation (KFF).

Lloris remains France's most-capped player and goalkeeper with 145 appearances, followed by Fabien Barthez (87) and Joël Bats (50).

Maignan has now climbed to fourth on the all-time list with 47 caps, moving ahead of Lama, who made 44 appearances for France.
