AFC Leopards received a major financial and infrastructure boost during a breakfast meeting hosted by President William Ruto at State House on Wednesday, 15 July, as the Head of State unveiled a series of commitments to strengthen the club ahead of the 2026/27 FKF Premier League season.

The biggest announcement was the President's pledge to increase the club's annual sponsorship package from Ksh75 million to Ksh100 million by securing an additional Ksh25 million in funding.
"I have asked the patron, and he told me that the club has sponsorship worth Ksh75 million. For this year, I will organise and ensure the club has sponsorship of Ksh100 million. I will find the additional Ksh 25 million to help the team perform well," President Ruto said.
The President also handed the club Ksh10 million in direct financial support, with Ksh5 million earmarked as a reward for the players and the remaining Ksh5 million set aside to strengthen the squad through new signings.
"You have asked for help in signing players, and I know you need resources. I may not know exactly how to do it, but I am certain I will help the team," he said.
"Out of the Ksh10 million, give Ksh5 million to the players so they have something to take home. Use the other Ksh 5 million for other needs such as signing players."
The State House pledges did not stop there. After club officials informed the President that AFC Leopards had secured a 15-year lease for a training ground, he directed the Ministry of Sports to support the development of the facility into a modern training base.
"I am told you have secured a lease for your training ground. The Cabinet Secretary for Sports will provide the necessary resources, prepare a suitable design, and we will develop a proper training pitch for you," President Ruto said.
The President also challenged Ingwe to build on last season's impressive campaign by winning the FKF Premier League title, promising to reward the club again should they lift the championship.
The announcements represent one of the biggest packages of support ever pledged by a sitting Kenyan president to a football club, giving AFC Leopards a significant boost both on and off the pitch ahead of the new season.
