Indy Eleven confirmed the signing on Tuesday, with the Kenya international set to bolster the club's defense ahead of the second half of the USL Championship season. The terms of the deal were, however, not disclosed.
The move marks a return to American football for Kibunguchy, who spent the 2025 campaign in Singapore with Hougang United. The centre-back featured 24 times for the Cheetahs, scoring three goals, including his first for the club in a Singapore Cup victory over rivals Geylang International.
Kibunguchy is no stranger to the US football scene. The Sacramento-born defender was selected 18th overall by Minnesota United in the 2021 MLS SuperDraft after an impressive college career at UC Davis.
He began his professional career with Minnesota before spending the remainder of the 2021 season on loan at Sacramento Republic, where he established himself as a regular starter with 13 starts in 16 matches, contributing a goal and an assist.
The defender went on to make his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut for Minnesota United in 2022, featuring in league matches against Houston Dynamo and Colorado Rapids, while also playing in the U.S. Open Cup. He also impressed for Minnesota United II, scoring four goals in 15 MLS NEXT Pro appearances.
A move to Orlando City B followed in 2023, where Kibunguchy continued his development and earned a short-term promotion to Orlando City's MLS first team after scoring four goals in 23 matches. He remained with Orlando City B in 2024, playing every minute of the club's 26 league games.
His performances in the United States earned him international recognition, making his Harambee Stars debut in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in November 2023 in the 5-0 thumping of Seychelles.
