The midfielder is currently club-less after parting ways with Tusker FC.

Humphrey Mieno could be set for a return to Sofapaka FC after nine years since he left Batoto Ba Mungu, Mozzart Sport understands.

The midfielder, who is currently unattached, trained with the Francis Haringingo-led team on Tuesday as talks between the two parties continue. Sofapaka are keen on signing the lanky midfielder and hope to strike a deal with him before the transfer window closes in ten days’ time.

Mieno was released by Tusker after the expiration of his contract in August, and he had been linked with a host of clubs in recent weeks before showing up at Sofapaka’s training on Tuesday morning.

"He trained with us today, and from the look of things, he has reached an agreement with the club, but we will wait until things are made official," one of the players told Mozzart in an interview.

Should he complete a move to the club, this will be his third stint with Batoto Ba Mungu. He first joined the club in 2011 for a short stint before leaving for Club Africain of Tunisia in the same year. He returned to Sofapaka in 2012, and a year later he was loaned to Azam FC of Tanzania, where he lasted for a year before making a comeback to Batoto ba Mungu.

Sofapaka’s financial struggles saw Mieno ditch them for AFC Leopards in 2015, and less than a year later, he left Ingwe for the same reason and joined Tusker FC. After two years, he left Tusker for Gor Mhaia in 2017 and lasted for two years before heading to Ethiopia to join St. George. After a few months in Ethiopia, he rejoined Tusker, lasting for four years before his eventual release last month.

Newly signed players at Sofapaka include Keegan Ndemi, Evans Maliachi, Abdoul Razak Fiston, Oliver Maloba, Mousa Omar, Khalid Jumaan, Baron Ochieng, Darius Msagha, Andre Kalama, Jacob Osano, Edwin Lutta, and Brankline Masibo.
