Naibois created history by winning both the Mozzart Bet Cup and the National Super League (NSL) title and had set their eyes on lifting the top-tier crown in their maiden season - a feat only achieved by Sofapaka in recent times.

With the added responsibility of competing in the CAF Confederation Cup (CAFCC), the team has suffered from fixture congestion and are currently ninth on the log with 28 points, 18 shy of table toppers Gor Mahia, but with three games in hand.

Naibois latest match was a 3-0 win over Bidco United, a match in which Wangaya, who was making his debut, scored, after which he reiterated their title ambitions.

“We believe we are still in the title race because we have many games to play, but again, we are taking one game at a time. We urge our fans to be patient with us as we believe we can still win the league,” said Wangaya.

The Kenya U20 midfielder was returning to the local scene, over two years after leaving Kariobangi Sharks for Albanian side FK Apolonia in January 2024, where he had a short stint.

The 20-year-old then returned to Ligi Ndogo and was out of competitive football until he signed for the Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja's backed side in early February.

“I am happy to be back. I am happy for the win because we prepared well, did our part on the pitch and got the results.

I have been training for such a moment, and for my debut, I was thinking about it for the whole week. The coaches have been preparing me, and I am grateful for the trust and opportunity to play again,” he stated.

Wangaya will have another opportunity to showcase his skills when Naibois face Coastal side Bandari FC on Wednesday, 25 February at the KPA Sports Club, Mbaraki.
