The Junior Starlets are already in camp in preparation for their qualifiers, beginning with a two-legged match against Namibia.

Junior Starlets are aiming to replicate a feat achieved in 2024 when they made it to the Dominican Republic edition of the tournament for the first time in history.

Speaking from their training base at Kasarani Stadium, captain Bevarline Awuor said the team is motivated to make amends after missing out on the 2025 edition.

“The team is doing well. We are pushing ourselves, and I can say that every player is in a positive mood.

There is pressure because we failed to qualify for the World Cup last year and have vowed to do all we can to qualify this year,” said Awuor.

Awuor is relishing the chance of leading the team to achieve yet another historic qualification.

“At a personal level, this is my first time captaining the team, and I would like to lead them to the World Cup,” she added.

On her part, Lindey Weey, who was part of the historic 2024 squad that qualified for the tournament, is banking on the quality in the team this year to make it to the global tourney.

“The coach has believed in me and given me the third opportunity to be with the team, and I will do my best not to disappoint her.

Last year, we lacked in some key areas, and I believe the current team has all the quality needed to make it to the World Cup,” stated Weey.

Kenya will be away to Namibia on Sunday, 12 April at the Windhoek Unam Stadium before hosting the second leg on Saturday, 18 April at the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Lang’ata.
