Kenya is set to host the Women's FIFA Series that will take place from Saturday, 11 April to Wednesday, 15 April at the Nyayo National Stadium.

The tournament will feature Harambee Starlets, World giants Australia, India and WAFCON-bound Malawi.

With WAFCON taking place from 25 July to 15 August after being postponed from February, Odemba explained the importance of the FIFA Series.

“The postponement of the WAFCON is now a blessing in disguise as it gives us time to prepare well,” said Odemba.

Odemba relishes the opportunity of facing competitive sides that will help her in gauging the progress of the Kenyan team.

“It is exciting that we will host the FIFA series and will face big and established teams as well as the likes of Malawi who have qualified for WAFCON,” she added.

The former Mathare United assistant coach also revealed when the team is expecting the arrival of foreign-based players.

“We now have all the local players in camp and are just looking forward to the arrival of the internationals from Wednesday morning,” she remarked.

Starlets will also play in friendly matches ahead of WAFCON where the former Kenya Police Bullets head coach will have an opportunity to assess her team.

“The team is in transition and so the friendlies we are playing with are to ensure the team is gelling and everyone is up to speed.”

Kenya will begin their FIFA Series campaign with a clash against India on Saturday 11 April from 1800 hrs in the second match of a double header with Australia clash against Malawi opening the stage at 1400 hrs.

Should Harambee Starlets secure a win against India, they will play the winner between Australia and Malawi in the final on Wednesday 15 April from 1800 hrs while a loss will book them a date with the loser of the other match in the third place playoff on Wednesday 15 April from 1400 hrs.
