The Kakamega-based outfit have confirmed the arrival of Erick Muranda, who returns for a second stint at the club, and James Ombeng, a fast-rising goalkeeper trainer who has been making steady strides in Kenyan football.

Muranda, who previously worked with KCB FC as the fitness and conditioning coach, has been handed the same role at Homeboyz.

His appointment marks a homecoming, having served in a similar capacity at the club between 2020 and 2022 as part of coach Bernard Mwalala’s technical unit. That entire bench was relieved of its duties in July 2022.

In an official statement, the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners welcomed Muranda back with high praise:

"We are delighted to confirm the appointment of coach Erick Muranda to our technical bench. Coach Muranda returns for his second stint with the club, having previously served for two years between the 2020 and 2022 seasons.

He rejoins us as the fitness and conditioning coach, bringing valuable expertise and experience to strengthen our technical team. Welcome back home, coach Muranda," the club announced.

Alongside Muranda, Homeboyz have also secured the services of goalkeeper coach James Ombeng.

He arrives from TBM Health FC, where he held the same role, and will be tasked with stabilising and improving the club’s goalkeeping department following the departure of coach John Waw, who left for Tanzanian side Pamba Jiji FC in July, together with head coach Francis Baraza.

Ombeng’s résumé includes stints with Gaspo Women, Equity FC, Gor Mahia, and KCB, where he served in different capacities, including volunteer roles.

At Homeboyz, his mandate will be to build on the solid foundation left by Waw, whose tenure produced an impressive 19 clean sheets across competitions last season.

The latest changes come as part of a slight reshuffle in the technical structure, with coach Paul Okatwa and Hesbon Naybinge as assistant coaches.
