Before his dismissal, he had overseen 22 matches, achieving 11 wins and seven draws, placing the club third on the log with 40 points, their best placing since returning to the top tier three seasons ago

Former Shabana FC head coach, Peter Okidi, has hinted at a possible return to the Kisii-based side, but only under revised and more favorable conditions.

The seasoned tactician made the revelation shortly after being named the February Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKF-PL) Coach of the Month.

Okidi, who guided Shabana through an impressive run last month, stated that while he would not outright refuse a return, it would have to be on terms befitting his experience and contributions.

“I can’t decline to return, but my terms will be high. The platform they have given me has allowed me to grow, and when we sit on the table, the confidence and conditions will reflect that,” Okidi explained.

“Football is fleeting, today you are here, tomorrow you are elsewhere. The key is leaving on good terms. I remain in contact with the management, and if they call, I will consider returning, but under different terms.”

The award-winning coach edged out stiff competition from Patrick Odhiambo of Kakamega Homeboyz, William Muluya of Kariobangi Sharks, and Charlse Aknoor of Gor Mahia to claim the coveted monthly honor.

February was a remarkable month for Shabana under his stewardship, registering four wins, five goals scored, and five clean sheets, signaling a resurgence in form.

Okidi’s departure from Shabana came just a fortnight ago after consecutive losses to AFC Leopards and Kariobangi Sharks, including a crushing 5-1 defeat to AFC Leopards, Shabana’s worst since promotion, followed by a 2-1 loss to Kariobangi Sharks.

Before his dismissal, Okidi had overseen 22 matches, achieving 11 wins and seven draws, placing the club third on the log with 40 points, their best placing since returning to the top tier three seasons ago.

Overall, since his appointment in October 2024, the soft-spoken gaffer recorded 28 wins, 15 draws, and 14 losses in 58 matches, cementing his reputation as a tactically astute and stabilizing force.

With the February FKF-PL recognition marking his second accolade and reaffirming his managerial acumen, Okidi’s message is clear that any return to Shabana will be on his own terms, reflecting both his growth and the value he brings to the club.
