Sofapaka are not the only win-less side thus far in the season as twelve-time champions AFC Leopards are yet to win a duel
Sofapaka head coach, Ezekiel Akwana says that the FIFA international break has given him ample time to cure their Achilles heel heading into round seven of the campaign.
The former league champions have yet to win a match this season, but Akwana believes that the brief break was sufficient to work on the areas that cost them wins in the past rounds.
Sofapaka are not the only winless side thus far in the season, as twelve-time champions AFC Leopards have yet to win a duel.
Akwana who recently took over from Burundian tactician Francis Haringingo says he has had the opportunity to assess all aspects of the squad and individual player performance during this break.
Haringingo was shown the door after failing to master a win with the club either in the league or the Elite Pre-season Cup tournament.
“The break has helped me see what to change and what to keep; the remaining days are crucial for me and the technical bench if we are to produce positive results this weekend,” he told club media.
Batoto ba Mungu are gearing up for their upcoming FKF-PL match against Kenya Police FC, scheduled for October 21, 2023, at Machakos Stadium in Machakos County.
The match will mark the return of top-flight football in Machakos after three years. The facility has not held a top-flight game since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
After experiencing a 2-0 defeat against Muranga Seal in his first match in charge, the veteran tactician reiterated that he will be using the days before the league resumes to get his players ready and in the best shape both physically and mentally.
Akwana is not new to the Sofapaka setup, as he handled the team in an acting capacity a decade ago.
