The winger has played two league matches this season that enters round seven this weekend
Kakamega Homeboyz attacking midfielder Felicien Okanda is focused on garnering more playing time when the Football Kenya Federation Premier League matches resume after the FIFA international break.
Before the break, Okanda had featured twice against debutants Murang’a Seal who surprisingly won 1-0 and in their 3-3 draw against FC Talanta.
The winger cited ‘personal issues’ for the missed league matches against Tusker, Bandari, KCB and record champions Gor Mahia.
However, the Congolese says he is fully focused on helping Abana Abeingo win matches after solving the issues which barred him from contesting for playing time four times.
“I didn’t have a great start in the season due to some personal issues. I had to ask for permission from the team so as to attend to them. I am glad that everything is now behind my back and fully focused on giving my best for the team,” he said.
Homeboyz have been blowing hot and cold this season as the club has won twice, drawn and lost similar number of matches.
Their home record hasn’t been inspiring confidence as the team has lost once and drawn twice while playing in front of home fans.
Okanda believes that the team will be firing from all directions next weekend when league resumes.
Homeboyz are scheduled to take on Nzoia Sugar at the Sudi Stadium in a game that will see Okanda face his former employer should coach Patrick Odhiambo grant him playing time.
“We have been training hard from the time the league took a break. We are doing our best to recover from the slow start and start our march towards the league’s podium,” he expressed his confidence.
Okanda joined Homeboyz in February from the sugar millers. Nzoia have won a game in their opening six rounds and will take on Homeboyz hoping to arrest their poor start.
