Michira sustained a partial tear to his right groin during Shabana’s 1–0 over Bandari FC, in an FKF Premier League match played in October 2025 in Mombasa.
Despite scoring the lone goal of the match, the encounter had a bitter ending for him, as he picked up aj injury that kept him out of action for long.
Head coach Peter Okidi included him in the starting line-up for their subsequent match against Tusker FC on Sunday, 5 October 2025.
However, the midfielder’s return was short-lived as he aggravated the same injury and was stretchered off barely ten minutes into the encounter, forcing him into an extended spell on the sidelines.
The attacker made his return on Sunday, 4 January, marking the occasion in style by scoring in Shabana’s match against Nairobi United.
He was also featured as Shabana settled for a barren draw with Gor Mahia on Sunday, 11 January.
Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Michira termed the period away from the pitch was one of the most challenging of his career.
“I am happy and grateful to God to be back. I was out of the game for three months, so it feels great to return, especially after scoring last week. The more I play, the fitter I feel, and I’m confident the goals will keep coming,” he said.
The talented forward admitted that the rehabilitation process was mentally demanding, noting that the injury tested his resilience as much as his physical strength.
“Recovering from this kind of injury is largely a mental battle. Those three months were very tough and took a real toll on me, but I kept pushing and giving my best with the support of my physiotherapist. The most important thing is that I’m back now,” he added.
Reflecting on the setback, Michira acknowledged that failing to rest earlier may have contributed to the severity of the injury.
“Now, if I feel any pain, I prioritize rest. Back then, I made assumptions, and you can see where that led. If I had addressed it early enough, maybe we would be talking about a very different story today,” he offered.
With his recovery complete, Michira has set his sights on finishing the season strongly and remains optimistic about his personal targets.
“I am still chasing the top scorer award, and I haven’t given up. I’m only five goals short, and I know it’s achievable,” he said.
The Glamour Boys will face Sofapaka on Saturday, 17 January at Gusii Stadium.
