That sentiment came to life on Sunday, 31 August, when Harambee Stars midfielder Chrispine Erambo chose to end his month with an act of generosity that touched many hearts.

Fresh from his exploits at the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN), the Tusker FC midfielder visited the Mathare Kids Talent Hub, where he donated foodstuffs and other essential items.

Photos shared on social media captured the midfielder unloading packages that included maize flour, wheat flour, sugar, rice, cooking oil, tissues, and biscuits.

The warm reception from the children was evident in their smiles, laughter, and even dance moves.

Reflecting on the visit, Erambo noted that there was no better way to show his concern for the vulnerable in society.

“I was privileged to visit an incredible crew, and my heart is full of joy and gratitude. Seeing their smiles, dance moves, and hearing their laughter reminded me of the beauty of innocence and the importance of kindness.

Together, we can make a difference and create a brighter future for the little humans. Proud to be part of a community that cares for its most vulnerable," he posted.

Erambo’s presence at CHAN was itself a story of resilience and opportunity.

Drafted late into the squad to replace the injured Brian Musa, he made his mark by coming on in the 63rd minute of Kenya’s 1-1 draw against Angola, bringing much-needed energy.

He later grabbed headlines in the match against Morocco, though for the wrong reasons, after being sent off for a dangerous tackle that forced Kenya to play the second half with ten men.

Still, Harambee Stars defied all odds.

They stunned three-time champions Morocco and outclassed continental giants Zambia, marching to the quarterfinals in their first-ever CHAN appearance.

Although their fairy-tale run ended in heartbreak after a 4-3 penalty shoot-out loss to Madagascar in the quarterfinal, their spirited displays won admiration across Africa.

Under head coach Benni McCarthy, the team showcased defensive grit, tactical maturity, and belief, qualities that hinted at a promising future for the Harambee Stars.

Young talents like Ryan Ogam, Manzur Okwaro, and Erambo left fans optimistic about a new dawn.
