With 19 league matches left this season, he aims to score at least 10 goals, a target that seems realistic considering his explosive debut campaign with Tusker, where he netted 15 times in just 17 matches

Rising Kenyan striker Ryan Ogam says he is determined to settle quickly in Austria as he begins a new chapter with top-flight side Wolfsberger AC.

To aid his transition, the 21-year-old plans to learn German, a move he believes will be crucial for his integration both on and off the pitch.

Ogam sealed his transfer to the Austrian Bundesliga club on 1 September, capping off a remarkable rise after just one season in the FKF Premier League with Tusker FC.

Interestingly, last season was the first time he played as an out-and-out striker, having previously featured as a defensive midfielder during his Rainbow FC days.

His breakthrough has also been felt on the international stage.

Ogam emerged as Kenya’s joint top scorer at the CHAN tournament with two goals, helping Harambee Stars reach the quarterfinals.

He further underlined his pedigree with three goals in two matches during the World Cup qualifiers against The Gambia and Seychelles, earning recognition as one of the brightest prospects in Kenya’s attack.

Despite interest from multiple clubs, Ogam chose Wolfsberger, signing a long-term deal.

While awaiting his visa, the forward outlined his commitment to adapting quickly.

“I have the right mindset to settle in very fast. I have already scheduled lessons to learn German for smooth communication, but above all, it is about mentality. I am ready for the challenge,” he told Citizen TV.

On the pitch, Ogam has set clear goals for himself.

With 19 league matches left this season, he aims to score at least 10 goals, a target that seems realistic considering his explosive debut campaign with Tusker, where he netted 15 times in just 17 matches, narrowly missing out on the 'Golden Boot.'

“My target is to score 10 or more goals this season. I want to start my career in Austria on a high, and I am excited to give everything for my new club,” he added.

Ogam also paid tribute to Harambee Stars head coach Benni McCarthy, crediting the South African tactician for his rapid development.

“What Mariga and Hussein did by bringing in McCarthy was the best decision. Benni is the greatest coach I’ve worked under. Every training session improves me, from my movements to the instructions he gives. I’m extremely grateful to him,” he said.
