The 19-year-old linked up with the Egyptian giants after two impressive years at Sofapaka and will embark on a new chapter with the 14-time Egyptian Premier League champions.
The former Kibera Black Stars defender first announced himself on the continental stage during the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations (AFCON) held in Egypt, where his performances drew interest from several clubs, including emerging powerhouse Pyramids FC.
The club marked his arrival with a dramatic unveiling video posted on their social media platforms and captioned:
“From the jungles of Nairobi to Mit Okba, welcome our new Kenyan arrival, Baron Ochieng.”

The clip depicted a leopard stalking its prey in the wild before Ochieng dramatically emerged holding a spear, only to discard it and proudly raise a Zamalek shirt as the leopard bowed to him.
According to Egyptian outlet Ahram Online, Ochieng has signed a four-year deal that will keep him at the club until 2029.
His transfer was possible despite the close of the summer window in August, as FIFA rules allow free agents to join clubs outside the official registration period.
Ochieng’s signing comes at a crucial time for The White Castles, who are rebuilding after a disappointing 2024/25 campaign.
The Cairo-based club finished third in the Egyptian Premier League, behind rivals Al Ahly and Pyramids, and fell at the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final stage.
In response, they appointed Belgian coach Yannick Ferrera and further added 11 new players to strengthen the squad.
Having started his professional career at Kibera Black Stars before moving to Sofapaka in 2023, Ochieng has made rapid strides in his young career.
He was an assistant captain at the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, previously featured in the 2023 CECAFA U18 Championships, and later earned a Harambee Stars call-up for the 2024 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Burundi and Ivory Coast.
He is expected to make his debut for the record Egyptian Cup holders on Saturday against Al Masry in their sixth league match of the season.
