Ivorian forward underwent two surgeries and chemotherapy

Sebastien Haller has resumed training with Borussia Dortmund after a six-month battle against testicular cancer.

The 28-year-old forward was given the diagnosis shortly after signing for the German side in July 2022 on the back of a 34-goal campaign with Ajax Amsterdam.

After feeling unwell during BVB's pre-season tour of Switzerland, he underwent tests which revealed a malignant tumour.

The Ivorian attacker underwent two surgeries and chemotherapy in the previous month before getting the green light to link back up with his teammates on their return to training on January 2.

"Happy New Year, everyone! Hello guys, I'm finally back," Haller said in a video message on Dortmund's official Twitter channel. "And it starts very well for me because it is synonymous with returning to the field! 2022 was not the easiest year, but it prepared me to take up all the new challenges that 2023 will offer me. Looking forward to seeing you all again."
