Gunners' artillery should have no problem bringing Poterlless Seagulls down to earth

Brighton are doing very fine in the Premier League, but Arsenal are favourites to top them in the League Cup

That recent impressive win against Chelsea meant the whole world to the Gunners, but Mikel Arteta's side now must turn their attention to the EFL League Cup, a competition that they have only won twice in their history and most recently in the 1992-93 season.

The North London club did make it to the semi-finals last year, impressively holding Liverpool to a goalless draw at Anfield in the first leg with ten men before losing 2-0 at the Emirates, and not since the 2014-15 season have they gone out in the third round.

Arteta's side enters the midweek contest on the back of three straight wins and three straight clean sheets in all tournaments, and their streak of victories at the Emirates now stands at 12 matches.

And their contenders are highly inspired Seagulls, marching through the EPL with their new coach Roberto de Zerbi in a pretty impressive style. Moreover, Arsenal failed to win either of their Premier League meetings with Brighton last year - drawing 0-0 at the Amex before a 2-1 loss at the Emirates back in April.

"We're going to pick a very competitive team," Arteta told Arsenal's official website. "I think everyone deserves chances, and we'll make some changes with judgement in relation to the load of the players, but we'll play to win," concluded Arteta.
