The two sides are set to lock horns on Tuesday, 14 April at Wang'uru Stadium in one of the rescheduled FKF Premier League fixtures, a clash that could significantly shape the trajectory of this season’s title race.

Gor Mahia, chasing a record-extending 22nd crown, sit precariously at the summit of the standings, holding a slender two-point advantage over fierce rivals AFC Leopards.

With only eight matches left to define their season, the margin for error has narrowed sharply, turning every fixture into a must-win encounter.

Dropped points in their recent stalemate against Kariobangi Sharks served as a stark warning, a result that not only dented their momentum but also invited renewed pressure from the chasing pack.

Any further slip-ups at this critical juncture could severely undermine their title ambitions and risk condemning the club to a rare run of back-to-back trophyless seasons.

Speaking ahead of the high-stakes encounter, Assifuah acknowledged the weight of expectation but was quick to emphasise collective responsibility within the squad.

“At this moment, the pressure is not only on the strikers but on the whole team. What matters most is winning the match, no matter who scores. The three points are what we are looking for,” he stated.

Since arriving in the mid-season transfer window, the Ghanaian forward has made an immediate impact, scoring five league goals and quickly establishing himself as a key figure in Gor Mahia’s attacking setup and will be vital as they push for glory.

Defender Frank Odhiambo echoed similar sentiments, urging calm within the ranks while warning against the dangers of succumbing to pressure during the run-in.

“As a team, we are taking it one game at a time because we don’t want to pile pressure on ourselves. This is a tight moment in the league,” he explained.

“We are relaxed and focused because if you put too much pressure on yourselves, you can easily fumble, and that is what we want to avoid.”

Victory for K'Ogalo would see them climb to 60 points, opening up a potentially decisive five-point cushion over eternal rivals AFC Leopards and strengthening their grip at the top.

However, anything less than maximum points could tilt the balance in what is shaping up to be one of the most fiercely contested title races in recent seasons.
