Spain defender Pedro Porro knew exactly who he wanted to gift his World Cup winner's medal to

They say the journey matters more than the destination. And while celebration is the first thing that comes to mind after a major achievement, it's always worth taking a moment to reflect on the people who have been there along the way.

If you don't believe it, just look at Pedro Porro.

Once the celebrations in the streets of Madrid had ended and all the noise had died down a little, the Spain defender went to visit one of the most important figures in his life – the man who played a huge role in helping him become who he is today - carrying a special gift for his hero.

Yesterday, Porro posted a video on Instagram featuring his grandfather, Antonio, proudly wearing the World Cup winner's medal, with the caption "Mission accomplished".

Grandpa was the one who drove young Pedro thousands of kilometres across Spain while he was chasing his dream of becoming a professional football player.

And now, many years later, when he finally stood on top of the world and when all the sacrifices paid off, he knew exactly who he wanted to gift his medal and dedicate his success to.

We often hear stories about the difficult beginnings of football stars. But no matter how strong, talented, persistent, and determined they are, they always need the help of someone who believes in them and is willing to push them towards achieving their dreams.

For Porro, it was his grandpa, Antonio.
