The Spain national team captain appears to be edging closer to the Santiago Bernabeu with each passing day
The time seems to have finally come for Rodri to pull on the Real Madrid shirt.
Even though the potential deal is still a long shot, the latest reports from German outlet Sky Sports reveal that the captain of the Spain national team is getting closer to Santiago Bernabeu with each passing day.
According to the exclusive information, Real Madrid representatives and Rodri's advisor Pablo Barquero secretly met in a restaurant in Pozuelo de Alarcon near the Spanish capital to discuss the player's potential transfer.

Los Blancos reportedly made the 30-year-old their top priority and are willing to offer him a contract until 2030. Manchester City are also said to have offered their midfielder an extension to his current contract, which expires in June 2027, but no agreement has been reached.
And it's unclear whether it will be at all, because Sky Sports claims that Rodri is open to a return to his homeland, where he played for Villarreal and Atletico Madrid, in whose youth academy he spent six years.
Therefore, the reaction of Los Colchoneros' supporters would be interesting to see, especially since their former player was reportedly seen posing in front of their flag during the World Cup celebration parade, alongside three of their players - Marc Pubill, Marcos Llorente, and Alex Baena.
Still, that gesture appears to have meant little, though, as Rodri's potential "betrayal" could soon become a reality.
However, although his future is undoubtedly an important matter, the Spaniard currently has more pressing issues to deal with, given that he is set to undergo back surgery.
According to The Athletic, it will be a minor procedure that is not expected to keep Rodri sidelined for long, but still has to be done, as he played through pain throughout the World Cup knockout stage.
Now, the remaining question is which colours he will wear at the start of the new campaign - sky blue or white.
