Coach Bruno’s intent to reshape the team’s identity and raise its competitive edge is clear as the club seeks to build on last season’s eighth-place finish
National Super League (NSL) side Michael Olunga Football Academy (MOFA) have reinforced their squad with nine fresh faces ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, signalling a new era under newly appointed head coach Charles Bruno.

Leading the list of new recruits is former Mathare United goalkeeper Gideon Ogweno, who joins the Oyugis-based outfit from Kibera Black Stars.
Ogweno’s career has experienced a remarkable resurgence recently, most notably last term when he kept eight clean sheets in the NSL after a torrid spell with the 2008 FKF Premier League champions.
His arrival is expected to offer healthy competition in the goalkeeping department, which already features the experienced Stephen Otieno, a seasoned campaigner in the FKF Premier League.
MOFA’s attacking unit has also received a significant boost with the acquisition of Noah Jagongo, who recently parted ways with FKFPL side Mara Sugar FC after completing a one-year stint with the Kilgoris-based outfit.
Jagongo is seen as a timely addition to sharpen the club’s frontline, which struggled for goals in key fixtures last season.
The club has also raided Kisumu All Stars, bringing in a trio well-known to coach Bruno, who was in charge of the Kisumu-based outfit last term: Nelson Amunga, Joseph Onyango, and Laban Otieno.
The three, who featured under Bruno at Kisumu, will slot into the left back, midfield, and attacking roles, respectively, as MOFA looks to enhance its tactical flexibility and depth.
Further strengthening comes in the form of rising talents Bramwel Okola and Nelvine Okello, both signed from FKF Division Two side Samitsi FC.
In addition, youthful custodian Austin Omondi from Leeds United and Bakari Temo from Tatizo Nyota FC round out the incoming group.
As part of the squad overhaul, MOFA earlier in the week confirmed parting ways with eight players, among them high-profile names such as former Gor Mahia forward Tony Nyang’or, ex-Tusker midfielder Collins Otieno, and former Harambee Stars U20 international Syphas Otieno.
The list of exits also includes Kevin Owidi, Eric Ongoro, Leon Bodo, Erick Majura, and Clinton Okite.
Coach Bruno’s intent to reshape the team’s identity and raise its competitive edge is clear as the club seeks to build on last season’s eighth-place finish, where they amassed 49 points.
