He joined Simba wa Nairobi after a brief stint with the 2018 Mozzart Bet Cup winners, Kariobangi Sharks, whom he joined last year.
The transfer to City Stars saw him reunite with coach Salim Babu whom he had previously worked under at Nzoia Sugar FC.
With his contract with City Stars set to expire this month, the attacking midfielder is eager to prove himself again in the top flight.
His transfer from Sharks to City Stars wad aimed at giving him more playing time, having struggled to break to the starting team at the William Muluya- coached side.
Although he is yet to receive offers, Mwangi believes that he still has the legs to compete at the top tier and win titles.
"I am looking forward to my return to the top flight.I have gained valuable lessons during my time in the NSL. I have also had time to reflect and recharge ahead of my return," he said.
He made his Premier League debut in 2020 after Nzoia acquired his signature from Griffon FC.
Featuring in the top tier is not the sole target Mwangi will be pursuing in the new campaign.
The former Tusker man revealed that wearing the Harambee Stars shirt also falls within his objectives of the new term.
Mwangi earned his maiden Stars call up in March 2023 under the late coach Engin Firat.
Despite making it to the final team that featured in a Four Nations tournament in Mauritius, he did not make his debut.
"I have unfinished business with the national team. I came close to my debut in 2023 and I believe I will achieve my dream in future," he added.
