Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has announced the resumption of Confederation of African Football (CAF) coaching courses beginning July 2026, marking a significant step in strengthening technical capacity and coaching standards across the country.

In a communication published on the federation's official platforms, FKF confirmed that both new coaching courses and refresher programmes will be rolled out across all CAF licence categories, including CAF A, B, C and D.

The federation further noted that the refresher courses are in line with CAF Coaching Convention Regulations, which require coaches to periodically renew their licences.

According to FKF, coaches whose CAF licences were issued more than three years ago must undertake the prescribed refresher courses to maintain the validity of their qualifications and remain compliant with continental licensing requirements.

"CAF coaching courses will resume from July 2026, with Football Kenya Federation set to roll out both new and refresher courses across all CAF licence levels," FKF stated.

The move comes after a period in which coaching education activities have been limited, with the federation previously suspending some programmes as it sought to align its curriculum with evolving CAF standards.

The last notable CAF coaching programmes in Kenya included CAF A and CAF B courses conducted in recent years as part of FKF's coach education pathway.

The upcoming courses will provide an opportunity for aspiring coaches to begin their coaching journey while also enabling experienced tacticians to upgrade and renew their qualifications.

Coaching badges have increasingly become a prerequisite in modern football, with CAF and FKF enforcing minimum requirements for technical benches.

Under current regulations, head coaches in the FKF Premier League are required to possess a CAF A Licence, while assistant coaches are expected to hold at least a CAF B Licence.

The July rollout is therefore expected to boost the pool of qualified coaches and enhance professional coaching standards in the country.
