Wanyama has, in the recent past, expressed his desire to venture into coaching once he hangs up his boots and has taken a further step in enrolling for coaching courses, the latest being a UEFA B license that he undertook in May 2025.
In a bid to improve himself, the former Harambee Stars captain is taking a step further, disclosing the dates for UEFA A during a recent interview with UpSyd Digital Networks.
“I have already done UEFA B and will be undertaking UEFA A in the summer. After I have bagged the badges, the plan is to be a coach in the future,” said Wanyama.
In the United Kingdom (UK), summer will run from 1 June to 31 August, dates between which Wanyama is expected to undertake his course.
For his UEFA B, the former Celtic midfielder enrolled under the Northern Ireland Football Federation, where he is largely expected to return for the UEFA A.
With his UEFA B, Wanyama is qualified to work in the UK as a head coach for amateur sides and youth teams up to age 16 or as an assistant coach at the professional level.
To attain a UEFA A coaching badge, the former Tottenham Hotspur star will have to undergo at least 180 hours of education that includes both practical on-pitch training and theoretical learning, with the content focused on advanced game-oriented sessions, match analysis, and managing team performance.
Once again, Wanyama reiterated his ambitions of replicating the success that he had on the pitch in the dugout.
“I will be a successful manager somewhere in Europe, Kenya, or the world. I have strived under pressure, and I believe I can handle it as a coach,” he stated.
Wanyama will also utilize his skills once the under-construction Wanyama Football Academy in Busia is complete.
