At Jamhuri Stadium in Dodoma, Harambee Stars midfielder Duke Abuya played the full 90 minutes for Young Africans in their clash against Tanzania Prisons.

The reigning league champions delivered a disciplined performance, edging a 1-0 victory thanks to Laurindo Aurelio "Depu," who capitalized on a rebound from Allan Okello’s well-taken free kick.

The triumph marked Young Africans’ second consecutive win, extending their unbeaten run to 13 matches since the start of the season.

With 35 points from 16 outings, Yanga now enjoys a seven-point cushion over second-place JKT Tanzania, with four games in hand, strengthening their pursuit of back-to-back league titles.

Meanwhile, at Airtel Stadium in Mtipa, Simba SC, home to Harambee Stars striker Mohamed Bajaber, who did not feature due to injury, secured a late 2-1 home victory over Singida Black Stars, a side home to Kenyan trio striker Elvis Rupia and guided by coaches David Ouma and Lawrence Webo.

Anicet Oura opened the scoring for Simba, only for Mossi Nduwumwe to equalize for Singida, sending the teams into the interval level.

On resumption, Simba had to dig in late for the winner as Elie Mpanzu struck the decisive goal six minutes from time to claim maximum points.

The win lifted Simba to fourth place with 27 points, eight adrift of arch-rivals Yanga SC, with five games in hand.

Singida, meanwhile, endured a second consecutive loss to the league’s leading sides, following last week’s 3-0 defeat by Yanga, dropping them to tenth with 19 points, just six above the relegation zone, a precarious position as the season intensifies.

Singida will turn their attention to Mbeya City on Sunday, 15 March, as they seek to bounce back to winning terms and crawl up from the near foot of the table.
