Muguna, who recently parted ways with FKF Premier League champions Kenya Police FC after guiding the Law Enforcers to their historic maiden league crown, was unveiled on Thursday evening through an emotional announcement on the club’s official social media platforms.
The Rollers, 16-time Botswana Premier League champions, described the Kenyan playmaker as the “missing piece” in their quest to restore the club’s former glory.
“Welcome to the new era! Kenneth ‘Junior’ Muguna is Blue and Gold. A proven midfield maestro, Muguna brings leadership, creativity, and steel to power our engine room this season.
This is not just a signing—it’s a statement of intent,” read the statement in part.
The move marks Muguna’s third adventure abroad. The 2016 Kenyan Premier League Most Valuable Player (MVP) previously featured for Albanian top-flight side KF Tirana and had a stint with Tanzanian giants Azam FC, experiences that honed his reputation as a dependable creator in the middle of the park.
Back home, Muguna rose through the ranks at Palos FC and Western Stima before cementing his legacy at Gor Mahia, where he enjoyed a trophy-laden career, lifting three league titles as well as two Mozzart Bet Cups.
His most recent success came with Kenya Police FC, where he added a second domestic cup in the 2023/24 season and a league crown last campaign, silverwares that underscored his winning mentality.
Township Rollers will now look to Muguna’s leadership and pedigree as they bid to end a six-year wait for the league title, last won in the 2018/19 campaign.
That season, they clinched the league crown after amassing 66 points, edging out Jwaneng Galaxy by just two points in a tightly contested title race.
The “Blue Train” endured a disappointing 2024/25 season, finishing sixth on the log with 54 points, 12 behind champions Gaborone United.
