CAF had initially issued a cap of 60% (27,000) capacity for Kenya’s matches following fan trouble and other breaches in Kenya's first three group matches against DR Congo, Angola, and Morocco respectively.

Following a formal request by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF), CAF increased the capacity of Kasarani from 60% to 80% for the upcoming clash between Kenya and Madagascar.

The pronouncement was made by the Cabinet Secretary (CS) for Sports, Salim Mvurya, in a press conference held on Thursday, 21 August, at the ministry's headquarters as well as on his social media accounts.

“I have welcomed Confederation of African Football (CAF)’s decision to revise stadium attendance to 80%, translating to 36,000 tickets,” reads a post on Mvurya’s X (formerly Twitter) account.

With many fans still struggling and eager to find tickets for the highly anticipated clash, the CS revealed that fans will have another opportunity to buy the additional tickets.

“CAF is working to re-open the ticketing portal to accommodate the additional numbers, ensuring more fans can rally behind our national team Harambee Stars in the ongoing CHAN 2024 tournament,” he stated.

Nevertheless, Mvurya urged fans to maintain the decorum witnessed in the match against Zambia, where no incidents were reported.

“I want to thank Kenyans for heeding our call of Tusichome Game (Do not spoil the game) and upholding the highest standards in our last match.

I urge all Kenyans to maintain the same tomorrow (Friday) and in the remaining matches,” he added.

Fans who have not had the opportunity to get a ticket are urged to watch the game on television or at any of the 13 fan zones across Nairobi as well as six venues in Mombasa, sponsored by the County Government of Mombasa.
