Former Dynamo Brest forward joins Kakamega Homeboyz

Lopaga becomes the club’s third new signing of the transfer window, following the acquisitions of Samuel Odaro from Mara Sugar and Eugene Ochieng from Kibera Black Stars

Kakamega Homeboyz have officially completed the signing of highly rated forward Josphat Lopaga, a move aimed at reinforcing their frontline following the departure of prolific striker and last season’s league top scorer, Moses Shumah.

The 23-year-old joins the 2023 Mozzart Bet Cup winners on a two-year contract after leaving Belarusian Premier League side Dynamo Brest, where he spent two productive seasons. 

His arrival marks a significant coup for the club, especially as he had also been linked with a return to AFC Leopards and a potential switch to Tusker FC.

Announcing the signing on their official platforms, Homeboyz lauded Lopaga’s qualities, highlighting his ability to contribute both goals and assists. 

Last season in Belarus, he directly contributed to 17 goals, scoring eight and creating nine, underlining his reputation as a versatile and dynamic forward.

"We are pleased to confirm the signing of Josphat Lopaga. The forward joins us from Dynamo Brest, where he featured over the past two seasons.

He now arrives to further strengthen our attacking department ahead of the new season. Karibu Homeboyz Baragoi,” the club posted.

Lopaga’s journey reflects a steady rise .

A product of Shy Football Academy, he first made his mark at the Gor Mahia youth team in 2017 before moving to the National Super League with Mount Kenya United in 2019.

His growth continued at Posta Rangers, where he impressed during a two-year stint, earning a transfer to AFC Leopards in 2022.

Seeking new challenges, Lopaga embarked on his first international adventure in February 2023, signing with Omani side Dhofar before making the switch to Europe later that year when he joined Dynamo Brest.

Beyond club football, Lopaga has also donned national colors, representing Kenya at under-15 and under-23 levels, underlining his status as one of the promising players of his generation.
