Going into the match week, Gor Mahia sit atop the 18-team table with 19 points, the same as Mozzart Bet-powered Kakamega Homeboyz, with only goal difference separating the two, who have two points more than second-placed Kenya Police FC.
At the bottom of the table are Kariobangi Sharks with eight points and are joined in the relegation zone by Murang’a Seal and league newbies APS Bomet.
Tusker are sixth on the log with 15 points while Ulinzi are three places below with 13 points against their name, with Friday's match promising to be high octane.
The Brewers go into the match on the back of an away win over Mara Sugar FC, which was preceded by back-to-back losses against Kenya Police FC and Gor Ma,hia respectively.
A win for the 12-time champions will take them to third and a point off the two league leaders, with Gor Mahia taking to the pitch on Sunday in the Mashemeji Derby, while Homeboyz will be inactive this weekend as they were set to play AFC Leopards.
Tusker head coach Charles Okere has urged his team to be consistent if they are to earn their 13th league title come the end of the season.
“We are still in the title race, nothing is lost. We just have to be consistent with winning and keep pace with the teams that are up the log.
I believe that we were learning and will correct our mistakes that led us to lose matches. Our December fixtures are so crucial as they will greatly impact where we will be at the end of the season,” said Okere.
Ulinzi, on the other hand, are enjoying a good run of form in their last three matches, winning two and drawing one after previously enduring a seven-match winless streak.
Head coach Stephen Ocholla will be banking on his newfound form to propel them to a victory that will take them up to fourth on the table.
Last season, Tusker picked four points from the 2010 league champions; a draw in the first leg and three points in the second leg.
