Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) action returns today, following a dramatic Wednesday that saw Gor Mahia reclaim top spot, which showed the tight and unpredictable nature of this season’s title race.

Murang’a Seal vs Kenya Police

The spotlight falls on St. Sebastian’s Park in Murang’a, where defending champions Kenya Police face Murang’a Seal in a match that could propel the law enforcers to the summit with maximum points.

Under coach Dusan Stojanović, Police have shaken off a slow start to re-emerge as genuine title contenders.

They head into the fixture on an encouraging run, having lost just once in their last six league outings.

Their most recent match ended in a goalless draw against AFC Leopards, while the revival began with a 2-1 victory over Tusker, followed by wins against Mathare United, Bidco United, and Kariobangi Sharks.

Only a narrow 1-0 defeat to Shabana interrupted their momentum.

Captain David “Cheche” Ochieng has warned against complacency ahead of the Murang’a trip, insisting the champions will treat the hosts with respect.

“There is no small team in this league. We are focusing on all three points. Hopefully everything goes well and we can get a positive result,” said the title-winning skipper.

Midfielder Tobias Otieno echoed the confidence in camp, promising supporters a strong performance, while Stojanović reinforced the message of discipline and commitment.

“Hard work and total commitment are what we need to give our best and get the maximum points,” the police coach said.

For Murang’a, under Osborne Monday, the match presents an opportunity to arrest a worrying run.

The 2025 Mozzart Bet Cup semi-finalists have managed just one win in their last nine league games, with the previous six all ending in draws, leaving them precariously placed near the relegation zone.

History, however, favors the visitors. Police are unbeaten in their last seven meetings with Murang’a, including a 3-1 win in the reverse fixture.

In that period, the Police have claimed three victories, with the remaining four encounters ending in a draw.

A victory for Police today would open up a gap at the top, and strengthen their title defense, while a rare win for Murang’a Seal would lift them clear of the drop zone as the season enters a decisive phase.

AFC Leopards vs Ulinzi Stars

At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, AFC Leopards host Ulinzi Stars in a fixture that carries implications at both the top and bottom of the table.

Leopards sit eighth, but a win would move them within two points of leaders Gor Mahia, while Ulinzi, placed 14th, knows another defeat could drag them into the relegation places.

Ingwe, under former club player Fred Ambani, has endured a mixed run, drawing three and winning one of their last four matches.

Still, being just three points behind Kenya Police and within touching distance of Gor Mahia could provide the spark for a stronger push.

Ulinzi, on the other hand, are winless in three matches, and come into the game after back-to-back losses to KCB and Tusker, a run that has increased pressure on the soldiers.

Leopards will also be seeking revenge after failing to beat Ulinzi in both legs last season.

Their last victory over the military side dates back to June 2024, a 2-0 win. In the last ten meetings between the sides, Leopards have won six, Ulinzi three, with one draw.

Kariobangi Sharks vs Bidco United

The day’s final fixture sees Kariobangi Sharks host Bidco United at Kasarani Annex in a must-win encounter for both coaches, William Muluya and Anthony Akhulia, as each side looks to steady their campaign and climb away from danger.
