Vyner missed Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Coventry City at the CBS Arena after being ruled out with a short-term injury.

The Robins also lost Mark Sykes to a quad issue, adding to Struber’s frustrations, as City’s winless run stretched to three matches.

In the tight encounter, Ephron Mason-Clark’s second-half finish separated the two sides.

Both teams struck the woodwork in the first half through Haji Wright and Sinclair Armstrong, but Mason-Clark eventually broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute following a poorly cleared Coventry corner.

City confirmed before kick-off that Sykes and Vyner had been sidelined, with Struber appearing cautious as far as their return is concerned.

Yeah, I hope that,” Struber told Bristol Live when asked if the pair could be available to face Middlesbrough.

But we will see. Not everything in this direction is in my hands. Sometimes this needs time. I hope we have both players back around Christmas, and I would like it to be before Christmas.

Bristol City wll play once between now and their Boxing Day trip to West Brom. They will play the with high-flying Middlesbrough on Saturday.

Kim Hellberg’s side are currently the Championship’s in-form team and sits second with 42 points after 21 matches, behind only leaders Coventry.

Struber believes the week-long gap before the Boro fixture will benefit his squad as they attempt to halt their poor run of form.

Of course it is good for us,” Struber said. “We can train and go into some details. We can make the players sharp for the next game. We need not only a good performance, we should have three points in our hand.”
