This is exactly what the Speaker of Uganda’s Parliament, Annet Anita Among, who also owns Bukedea Comprehensive School in Eastern Uganda, did for the institution’s delegation upon their return from Kakamega, Kenya.
In only their second attempt on the regional stage, Bukedea Comprehensive School made history by winning two trophies: boys’ football and beach volleyball at the 2025 FEASSSA Games.
The Speaker ensured their triumph did not go unnoticed.
Bukedea lifted the football boys’ championship after defeating hosts Musingu Boys High School 2–1, courtesy of goals from Businge Amisi Yabil.
During a luncheon hosted at a Kampala hotel on Monday, Speaker Among, alongside her husband and the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) President Moses Magogo, fulfilled a promise made to the boys before the tournament.

The pair handed over USD20,000 (approximately Ksh2,583,400 or UGX 74 million) as a token of appreciation.
“This is the bonus we promised before the start of the 2025 FEASSSA Games. Thank you for playing well. We promise to continue supporting the sports project at Bukedea Comprehensive School,” said Among during her brief address.
Team captain Godfrey Ssekibengo expressed gratitude for the gesture:
“We are honoured and very excited about this donation. This push gives us the momentum and impetus to work even harder,” he said shyly.
Bukedea’s football and beach volleyball teams completed their campaigns unbeaten, and beach volleyball captain David Kigozi credited the success to collective effort:
"I thank everybody who has been part of our success, from Mama (Speaker Among), the managers, the players, coaches, and support staff. We are honoured indeed,” Kigozi noted.
Fred Katende Malibu, the Bukedea Comprehensive School sports project manager, lauded the project’s steady rise:
“This is now a third-year sports project at Bukedea Comprehensive School. The idea came from the Speaker herself to provide scholarships to sports students,” Katende recalled.
“Three years ago, we were ranked 48th in Uganda; now we are number three in Uganda, number three in the world, and number one in East Africa.
We came in as a new school with new tactics, renovations, and ideas, and we continue to make significant strides.”
St. Noa Girls Also Rewarded
Elsewhere, St. Noa Girls Secondary School capped off a successful 2025 campaign by lifting multiple trophies, with their most recent victories coming at the FEASSSA Games in Kakamega, Kenya.

The school’s delegation included three teams: netball, basketball 5×5, and football, and returned with two trophies.
St. Noa successfully defended the basketball 5×5 and girls’ football titles they won in 2024 in Bukedea District, Uganda.
In basketball, they defeated St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School Kitende in the final, while in football, they edged Kawempe Muslim SS 1–0, courtesy of a goal from Sumaya Nalumu.
As a reward, the school management gifted each player from the winning teams (basketball and football) a Hisense refrigerator as a token of appreciation.
