Palace star to sign a $123,000 contract

Eberechi Eze is on the verge of finalizing a new contract with Crystal Palace after reaching a preliminary agreement with the club regarding fresh terms. The English international, who has fully recovered from a hamstring injury, has been engaged in negotiations for an extension for several weeks.

The deal is now in place, with only the formalities remaining to be sorted out. Eze currently has 18 months left on his existing contract, and this extension alleviates the pressure on Palace regarding the future of their star forward.

The contract terms are expected to see Eze earning around $123,000 per week. However, there is significant interest in Eze from various top Premier League clubs heading into the next summer transfer window.

Manchester City came close to making an offer for the midfielder in the previous transfer window but eventually opted for Mateus Nunes from Wolves. Newcastle is also keeping tabs on Eze for the next season, and Tottenham has a long-standing interest in the 25-year-old.

It is anticipated that there will be substantial interest in Eze again ahead of the 2024/25 season, especially if clauses allow his release under specific conditions included in the deal. Nonetheless, Eze's impending contract extension will end any speculation about his departure in January, representing a significant piece of business for Palace.

Palace boss Roy Hodgson spoke optimistically last week about the club's movement for securing the talented midfielder.

"I believe the club are working very hard with Eberechi Eze. They are very confident it won't be too long before they can also announce him. These matters are taken care of by chairman Steve Parish and sporting director Dougie Freedman. They keep me informed. But certainly, they are optimistic it won't take too long to get Eze to commit his future as well."

Eze has been absent from Crystal Palace's lineup since sustaining a hamstring injury during their win over Manchester United in early October. However, he is now back in training.
