The chances are growing that the Roma striker will continue his career not in Europe, but in South America — with Brazil now emerging as a possible destination

According to transfer reporter Cesar Luis Merlo, it seems increasingly likely that Paulo Dybala will be leaving Europe after this season. Flamengo are reportedly ready to offer the Argentine a lucrative deal, while Boca Juniors are hoping for a storybook return to his homeland.

Boca see themselves as having a strong emotional pull, banking on a romantic narrative. After fourteen seasons abroad, Dybala could return to Argentina, where he earned forty international caps.

Financially, Flamengo appear to have the upper hand. Just last winter, the Brazilian side spent €42 million to secure Lucas Paqueta from West Ham United. Either way, Dybala looks set to depart AS Roma. The left-footed attacker’s contract expires after four seasons, meaning he would be available on a free transfer.

During his time with Roma, Dybala made 135 official appearances, scoring 45 goals and registering 26 assists. His last international outing came in 2024.

At this point, only a major turn of events could see him remain in Rome, as there are currently no discussions underway between the player and the club.

If a move back to South America isn’t immediate, the Turkish Super Lig could also be an option. Teams like Galatasaray or Fenerbahce could likely match his current salary of around €8 million, allowing him to maintain his earnings while continuing his career abroad.
