The club confirmed through their official communication channels that they will be without the services of forward Peter Okello and club captain Kevin Odira, both ruled out with injuries at a time when the team is keen to maintain momentum in the second tier.

Okello, who has been one of Soy United’s most influential attackers this season, sustained a knock on his right knee during last weekend’s fixture against Kibera Black Stars, a match in which the Mozzart Bet-backed side stunned the seasoned NSL outfit 2–0.

His absence deprives the newcomers of a direct, pacey threat in the final third.

For Odira, the setback extends his wait to make a competitive appearance this season.

The experienced defensive midfielder has been sidelined with a right-thigh muscle, strain picked up during the club’s historic promotion playoff victory over Bumbani Stars at Dandora Stadium two months ago, as Soy booked their return on a hard-fought 1-0 victory.

Despite the injury blows, Soy United received a timely boost with the return of central defender Samuel Khaemba, who is back in full training after missing three weeks through a calf injury.

"Peter Okello is set to miss this Saturday's league encounter against FC Talanta after sustaining a knock during last weekend’s home clash against Kibera Black Stars. Club captain Kevin Odira will also sit out as he continues with his rehabilitation process.

On a positive note, the team has been boosted by the return of central defender Samuel Khaemba, who makes his way back after a three-week layoff with a calf injury.” read a statement from the club.

The developments comes at a crucial moment for Soy United, who sit 11th on the 20-team standings with eight points.

The returnees trail leaders Migori Youth by 11 points, but hold three matches in hand having kicked off their campaign late into the season.

With maximum points at sight, victory over Talanta would trim the gap to eight points and strengthen their bid to climb steadily up the log.
