The 23-year-old's move from Nottingham Forest to the Etihad Stadium, worth €135 million, has become the joint-fifth most expensive transfer in football history, alongside Philippe Coutinho's transfer from Liverpool to Barcelona.
It trails only Alexander Isak (Newcastle-Liverpool, €145 million), Ousmane Dembele (Borussia Dortmund-Barcelona, €148 million), Kylian Mbappe (Monaco-PSG, €180 million), and Neymar (Barcelona-PSG, €220 million).
"Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson."
"Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the FIFA World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas. The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England."
"In the meantime, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the very best of luck in their World Cup campaign and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester in due course," the statement on Man City's official website said.
Anderson is seen as Bernardo Silva's successor in Manchester, so expectations are sky-high.
Before Forest, the midfielder played for his boyhood club Newcastle and Bristol Rovers on loan. Last season, he made 50 appearances for the Trees in all competitions, recording four goals and five assists.
