The 38-year-old's spell on the Germany national team bench seems to be coming to an end
Given their tradition and history, whenever Germany do not win the World Cup trophy, their campaign can be considered unsuccessful. At least that was the case while Die Mannschaft were a football force to be reckoned with.
After two group-stage exits in 2018 and 2022, and a Round of 32 elimination by Paraguay on penalties, Germany are at a crossroads, and the first to pay the price for the failure in the USA, Canada, and Mexico will, as things stand, be the head coach, Julian Nagelsmann.
🚨💣 BREAKING | Julian Nagelsmann has today been advised by the DFB to consider stepping down.

If he does not resign, the current plan is to dismiss him. He remains in charge for now, final decision still pending. Nagelsmann had the opportunity today to explain the reasons… pic.twitter.com/sRevk0NrHo
According to German outlets BILD and Sky Sports, the 38-year-old tactician had a meeting with the DFB (German Football Association) top officials - President Bernd Neuendorf, Managing Director Andreas Rettig, Sporting Director Rudi Voller - as well as the Bundesliga President Hans-Joachim Watzke, and received a clear message.
Nagelsmann initially analyzed Germany's World Cup debacle and was brutally honest - as were the gentlemen mentioned above who, as Sky Sports reports, told him to resign himself. Otherwise, he'll be fired.
This way, the former Hoffenheim, RB Leipzig, and Bayern Munich boss was given the chance to leave with his head held high, while the resolution is expected in the coming days.
At the moment, the current Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull and the ex-Mainz, Borussia Dortmund, and Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, is considered a clear favourite to succeed Nagelsmann.
