The draw leaves Gor Mahia with a seven-point buffer against arch-rivals AFC Leopards, albeit with a game in hand
For the umpteenth time since his signing in the January transfer window, record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia needed the brilliance of Ghanaian Ebenezer Assifuah this time to salvage a 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers with an 87th-minute strike.

Former Tusker FC midfielder Jackson Macharia required just seven minutes to hand Posta a surprise lead, and just when it looked like the Mailmen were on course to end their four-year wait for victory against K'Ogalo, Assifuah stepped up to rescue a crucial point for Gor Mahia.

Posta came into the match in a torrid run of form, which saw them not win any of their previous ten matches, including three consecutive losses in their last three encounters, which left them occupying the 13th spot
The match began at a slow pace, Gor Mahia failing to find their usual rhythm while Posta continued with their rustiness.
Posta, however, shifted a gear after the slow start and broke the deadlock in the seventh minute when, from a misplaced pass by Sylvester Owino, a cross was brought in that was headed in by Jackson Macharia.
Gor reacted to going down by upping their tempo and came close in the 17th minute when Jackson Dwang', playing against his former side, picked a pass from Alpha Onyango, pulled the trigger, but the crossbar came to Posta’s rescue.

The Kenyan giants were back at it in the 33rd minute when, from an Enock Morrison corner, Frank Odhiambo headed over the bar.
Gor Mahia continued pushing for an equaliser before the break, but Posta stood tall to ensure they took their lead to the break.
The 21-time record league champions came back as a much better side in the second half and had their first chance in the 50th minute through Dwang', who fired a shot from the edge of the box that was deflected for a corner, which did not yield any fruit.
In a bid to chase the game, coach Charles Akonnor introduced Ebenezer Adukwaw and Ben Stanley for Dwang' and Samuel Kapen.
K’Ogalo were pushing, but Posta's goalkeeper, Bixente Otieno, resorted to time-wasting antics and was yellow-carded for it.
The former Wazito FC goalkeeper would then suffer an injury, which led to him being withdrawn in the 75th minute, and in his place came former Gor Mahia goalkeeper Peter Odhiambo.
K’Ogalo’s attempts bore fruit in the 87th minute when Ghanaian star Ebenezer Assifuah chested into an empty net after Peter missed a Morrison cross to awaken the silenced Nyayo Stadium crowd.
The fourth official signalled 10 minutes of added time, giving more hope to Gor Mahia’s search for a winner.
However, the Kenyan giants could not find a winner and settled for a draw that took their points tally to 50 points, while Posta’s winless run extended to 11 games.
